Women Leaders Shaping Academic Excellence for Viksit Bharat @2047
The University Grants Commission (UGC) organized a one-day conclave titled “Women Leaders Shaping Academic Excellence for Viksit Bharat @2047”, aimed at empowering women leaders and acknowledging their significant contributions to academia and professional achievements. The event brought together 724 distinguished women leaders from academic positions across the country, including Directors, Deans, Heads
of Departments, Registrars, Financial Officers, and Controllers of Examinations. It was held at the Dogra Hall, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.
The keynote address was delivered by Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education. UGC Chairman, M. Jagadesh Kumar, emphasized the vital role of women’s leadership in academia in advancing India’s global objectives. He underscored the importance of harnessing the nation’s intellectual capital and promoting diversity of thought, gender equality, and sustainable development goals. Kumar also highlighted key initiatives under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, such as the Gender Inclusion Fund, GATI (Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions), and the Vidyanjali Programme, which aim to foster a gender-inclusive education system, as noted in an official UGC release.
The gathering featured a mix of academic sessions, panel discussions, and interactive Q&A segments, providing participants with valuable insights and strategies to overcome challenges and excel in their leadership roles. Key topics covered included governance, innovation and research, human resource management, networking, and financial planning. The event facilitated discussions on best practices, encouraged the development of supportive networks, and promoted gender equity within the academic sphere.
Dr. Reshmi Deb Choudhury Das, Associate Professor& Head, Department of English and Communication Skills, along with Dr. Priyanka Soni, Professor, Department of Pharmacy represented Mandsaur University in this prestigious event.
