Title: “Voting awareness session”

Brief description/ Remarks: 

In view of upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024, the Social Awareness & Environment Sustenance Club (NSS Unit) of Mandsaur University conducted Voter awareness sessions for the new voter students as well as disseminated the information through creativity on voter awareness. The program was organized in different phases from 23rd to 27th April 2024 at MU Campus-I and Campus-II.

The program started with welcoming of new voter students by Dr. Shekhar Jain, Director, NSS, MU. The main objective behind the voting awareness session was to increase the participation of people specially youth in voting process and instill a sense of civic duty and engagement among the participants. Students were informed about how their participation in the electoral process directly impacts governance and policy-making. Emphasis was placed on the responsibility of every citizen to exercise their voting rights for a better and inclusive society.As a part of the awareness campaign, short films, TVC, Main Bharat hoon Song and creative’s shared by Election Commission of India were showcased to the students. These audiovisual materials effectively conveyed messages related to the electoral process, voter empowerment, and the impact of informed voting on societal progress. The visual medium helped in capturing the attention of the participants and reinforcing key concepts. Towards the end of the session, students were invited to take a voter’s pledge. The pledge included commitments to vote responsibly, stay informed about political issues and participate actively in democratic processes beyond elections. The whole program was successfully coordinated by the faculty coordinator Ms. Teena Yadav (Secretary NSS), Mr. Daya Shankar Singh (Coordinator Campus 1) and Mr. Vinod Parihar (Coordinator Campus 2) along with student coordinator Mr. Paras Adaniya and Mr. Umesh Dangi (B. Sc. Agriculture III year). Faculty members of different departments were also present in the event.

Outcome:This activity inculcates the importance of voting and achieved its objectives of raising awareness about voting, leveraging audiovisual aids, and encouraging active participation through the voter’s pledge. Such initiatives play a crucial role in promoting democratic values and civic responsibility among the youth.
