THREE DAYS ATHLETICS WORKSHOP

The Mandsaur Institute of Physical Education, Mandsaur University, participated in the Division Level Athletics Workshop held from 20th to 22nd November with active involvement of 20 students from B.P.Ed. and B.P.E.S. programs. This workshop served as an intensive live practical training experience focusing on ground preparation, event management, and technical officiating according to professional athletics standards.

The workshop began with pre-event briefing sessions where students were introduced to the layout of athletic events, rules and regulations, measurement techniques, and duties for field management. Demonstrations were conducted on track and sector marking procedures, enabling students to understand and execute tasks as per World Athletics norms.

During the three days, students worked from early morning hours (6:00 AM) preparing the ground, marking 100m, 200m, 400m lanes, relay zones, and measurement sectors for shot put, discus, and javelin. They demonstrated discipline, endurance, and strong teamwork while working continuously under sunlight to ensure perfect field arrangements.

Students also actively assisted in event management, including athlete reporting, call-room duties, equipment placement, safety supervision, and coordination with senior athletics officials. They further participated in officiating activities such as timekeeping, lane judging, measuring throws and jumps, recording results, and supporting announcement and jury panels.

This live workshop exposure provided students with real-time understanding of competition flow, technical error identification, and professional officiating standards. Interaction with experienced officials enhanced their knowledge, confidence, communication, and decision-making abilities.

All students maintained exemplary discipline, punctuality, and responsibility throughout the workshop. Their conduct was appreciated by the event officials, who acknowledged their sincerity, technical capability, and commitment to the tasks assigned.

Post-event, a structured debriefing session was organized to review challenges, evaluate improvements in ground marking and officiating accuracy, and document academic and experiential learning outcomes.

The workshop significantly contributed to outcome-based learning, practical skill development, and preparation for professional roles in athletics event management and officiating.
