MU’s association with the tech major IBM acts as an effective enabler in our efforts to nurture talent progressively and to offer industry – focused courses. That IBM shares MU’s passion and enthusiasm for education has helped us benefit tremendously from this association. Our students get a glimpse of real life industry scenarios and experts from IBM offer continuing mentorship on academic projects, as well as hands- on training sessions in new technologies. Beyond this, MU avails of free downloads of software and e- books from IBM, for our research projects.
Incidentally, MU was ranked among the top ten engineering colleges in India by IBM-TGMC (2012), the largest student technology contest in India run by the tech major. IBM- TGMC is an innovative program aimed at encouraging students from engineering colleges from across India to develop solutions for real-time problems and scenarios using IBM & Open Source Software.
The MHRD – led project to deploy Aakash tablets to empower teachers in engineering and science streams was launched in October 2011. IIT- Mumbai, acting as a Central agency in running the project, selected MU- Mandsaur as one of the remote centres. MU is among the few engineering colleges across India to act as a centre; and the project gives our BE and ME students an opportunity to contribute to Research and Development activities in the Mandsaur vicinity.
