Modern Tools for Academic Research: Thesis Writing, Data Analysis and Result Interpretation

The Department of Life Sciences, Mandsaur University, in association with IQAC and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized a two-days’ workshop on “Modern Tools for Academic Research: Thesis Writing, Data Analysis and Result Interpretation” on 13th–14th May 2026 for Final Year B.Sc. & M.Sc. students (Biotechnology & Microbiology) of Life Sciences.

The workshop was conducted with the objective of strengthening students’ research aptitude, scientific writing skills, data interpretation abilities, and digital competency in alignment with emerging academic and research practices. The sessions focused on practical exposure to modern AI-enabled and digital tools that can significantly improve the quality, efficiency, and presentation of research work and project dissertations.

Dr. Shekhar Jain, Associate Professor & HoD, Department of Life Sciences, conducted interactive and hands-on sessions covering thesis structure, academic writing techniques, plagiarism, literature review preparation, citation management, data analysis, and result interpretation. Students were introduced to the ethical and effective use of advanced AI-based tools including ChatGPT, NotebookLM, and Napkin AI for academic content development, summarization, conceptual visualization, and research planning.

Practical training was also provided on Microsoft Excel for data organization, graphical representation, and statistical interpretation, along with PowerPoint-based scientific presentation techniques and AI-assisted visual content generation. Students were additionally guided on the effective use of Google Scholar for scholarly literature search, citation tracking, reference management, identification of authentic research articles, and preparation of plagiarism-free academic content.

The workshop received enthusiastic participation from students and proved highly beneficial in developing research-oriented learning and technology-driven academic skills among the participants.
