Industrial Visit: A part of the curriculum of (Mechanical & Electrical Engineering) Students
The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering & Mechanical Engineering, Mandsaur University, organized a day of industrial visit for the B.Tech. & Diploma (I) semester students to the Diesel Locomotive Shed Ratlam (M.P.) (WR Division) on the date: 24/11/2025 to have an exposure to the diesel and electric locomotives.
The purpose of the visit was to elaborate on the working principle and operation of diesel and electric engines and locomotives to the students to understand their technical know-how. The design of a Diesel locomotive is based upon the thermodynamic principles and concepts of the subject Thermodynamics and Internal Combustion Engines as a part of the Mechanical Engineering syllabus, while the Electric locomotive is one of the best systems based upon the electrical and electronics engineering concepts. The Principal (Mr. Shailendra Jha) of DTTC Ratlam (WR) coordinated the student visit inside the diesel shed and his team members: (i) Mr. Nitin Gangwar (instructor), (ii) Mr. Ankur Bhatnagar (AE) (iii) Madam Priti Shrivastava (AE) explained about the different parts of the engine and their working on a WDM2 locomotive and in the Model room.
