Creative Pattern Making Workshop
The 06-day Creative Pattern Making Workshop was organized by the Department of Fashion Design
for II, IV, and VI Semester students from 22nd April to 27th April 2026. The workshop was
conducted by Mr. Hemant Dubey, an experienced academician and industry expert with over 20 years
of expertise in pattern making and garment construction.
The workshop covered a comprehensive module starting from the basics of tools and body
measurements to advanced garment construction techniques. Students were trained in drafting basic
shirt and trouser blocks, developing complex patterns such as 7-panel corsets, and executing proper
fitting techniques using muslin fabric.
Hands-on sessions included fabric cutting, interfacing, and construction of collars, sleeves, plackets,
trouser pockets, and corset assembly. Students also learned technical detailing such as zip fly
construction, boning channels, and finishing techniques like hemming, buttonholes, and steam
pressing.
The final day included exhibition setup and presentation of student work, where garments were
evaluated based on technical accuracy, finishing, and creativity. The workshop was highly interactive
and practice-oriented, enabling students to gain real-time problem-solving experience under expert
guidance.
