INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA – YOG SANGAM
The Mandsaur Institute of Physical Education, Mandsaur University, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The event, titled “Yog Sangam,” was organized in accordance with the guidelines of UGC and the Ministry of AYUSH.
A brief introduction regarding the history and evolution of International Yoga Day was presented, highlighting the declaration by the United Nations on 11th December 2014 and the worldwide celebration of Yoga Day every year on 21st June.
Dr. Sadananda Prusty addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental peace, and self-discipline in everyday life. He appreciated the efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji in promoting yoga globally and also referred to the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, whose philosophy aligns with yogic values and holistic well-being.
The practical session began with a yoga prayer conducted by Ms. Uma Atoliya, student of B.P.Ed. II Semester, MIPE. Thereafter, Yoga Expert Ms. Nancy Gangwar conducted an inspiring and practical yoga session. She motivated participants to adopt yoga as a daily practice for maintaining physical and mental wellness, emphasizing healthy habits, proper sleep, and balanced living.
Participants enthusiastically performed various yogic practices including Surya Namaskar, yogasanas, pranayama, and breathing exercises under expert guidance. A total of 63 students actively participated in the event and experienced physical as well as mental rejuvenation through yoga practice.
As part of the International Yoga Day 2026 celebrations, a special online yoga session was also organized under the gracious presence of Dr. Rajeev R. Thakur, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Mandsaur University. The online session was conducted by renowned Yoga Expert Yogi Ankit Garg Ji.
