Industrial Visit to Swaraj Suiting Ltd., Neemuch
Swaraj Suiting Ltd., located in Neemuch (M.P.), is a premier textile facility specializing in high-quality suiting production. This visit provided students from the Department of Fashion Design with a vital “fiber-to-fabric” perspective, bridging the gap between classroom theory and large-scale industrial reality.
The visit followed the sequential flow of textile manufacturing, beginning with Yarn Preparation and Weaving. Students observed the warping and sizing processes essential for strengthening yarn. On the production floor, they witnessed high-speed Rapier and Air-jet looms in action. Technical experts demonstrated how complex weave structures, such as twill and satin, are mechanically engineered to produce the durable textures required for professional suiting.
The group then transitioned to the Processing and Dyeing Unit. Here, they learned about scouring and bleaching techniques used to prepare fabrics for color. The demonstration of the Continuous Dyeing Range (CDR) highlighted how industrial consistency is maintained across vast quantities of fabric. This was followed by an overview of Finishing Techniques, where processes like Sanforization were explained, showing how fabric shrinkage is controlled and hand-feel is enhanced through chemical treatments.
A critical highlight was the Quality Control (QC) Laboratory. Students observed rigorous testing for GSM, tensile strength, and colourfastness. This emphasized that professional fashion standards rely heavily on technical precision and material integrity. Additionally, the visit offered insights into Production Planning & Control (PPC), demonstrating how various departments—from raw material procurement to final dispatch—must coordinate seamlessly.By observing these integrated manufacturing workflows and the application of the 5S methodology, students gained a holistic understanding of the textile supply chain, preparing them for the technical demands of the global fashion industry.
