Brief description/ Remarks:
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Day is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm and aims to instill the idea of social welfare in students and to provide service to society without bias. With the same aim, the Social Awareness & Environment Sustenance Club (NSS Unit) of Mandsaur University has celebrated NSS Day under the themes ‘Youth for My Bharat’ and ‘Digital Literacy,’ on September 24, 2024. The event emphasized the role of youth in building a self-reliant, progressive India and the importance of digital literacy in today’s world. Newly enrolled NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically, reflecting the spirit of national service.
At the beginning of the program, Dr. Shekhar Jain, Director NSS welcomed the guest Dr. Nilesh Jain, HOD, Faculty of Computer Sciences and Application. In the opening remark, Dr. Shekhar Jain highlighted the importance of NSS in nurturing the values of service, responsibility, and leadership among youth. He underscored how the themes ‘Youth for My Bharat’ and ‘Digital Literacy’ align with the vision of a self-reliant and technologically advanced India. Afterward, the expert Dr. Nilesh Jain delivered an interactive session on Digital Literacy. He shared insightful thoughts on how digital literacy is crucial for empowering youth to contribute effectively to society. He discussed about various digital platforms such as My Bharat, SWAYAM, and NPTEL, Cybersecurity, different useful mobile applications etc. with the students for further learning.In the segment on Youth for My Bharat, Mr. Paras Adaniya, an NSS volunteer, delivered a motivational speech on the role of youth in shaping the future of India. He shared his personal experiences in NSS and how it helped him to develop a sense of responsibility towards national causes like Swachh Bharat, Fit India and Digital India. His insights encouraged the new entrants to think about their contributions to the country’s growth and self-reliance. Following the interactive session, all participants took a solemn pledge to contribute to nation-building through their services in NSS, vowing to work towards a digitally literate and self-sufficient India. The event concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Dayashankar Singh, who reminded the volunteers that their journey in NSS is about more than just service—it’s about becoming change-makers. The whole program was successfully coordinated by the faculty coordinator Ms. Teena Yadav (Secretary NSS), Mr. Daya Shankar Singh (Coordinator Campus 1), and student coordinator Mr. Paras Adaniya (B. Sc. Agriculture).
Outcome:
The NSS Day celebration successfully instilled a sense of responsibility, patriotism, and digital awareness in the students. The combination of expert interactive sessions and pledges left a lasting impression on the volunteers, equipping them to be catalysts for positive change in society. It encourages young individuals to participate in community service and volunteer work, fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership among the youth. The main outcome behind the celebration was to make a better future for the country by motivating the youth and spreading awareness of Digital Literacy for nation-building.
