Guest Lecture

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mandsaur University, organized a Guest Lecture on “Industrial IoT: Architecture, Technology and Application” on 22nd August 2026.

The programme was organized by the EEE Department in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) Cell and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Mandsaur University. The session was conducted for students with the objective of providing comprehensive exposure to the rapidly evolving field of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and its applications in smart industries.

The resource person delivered an insightful and interactive session on the fundamentals, architecture, enabling technologies, and practical applications of Industrial IoT.

Objectives of the Guest Lecture

The main objective of the guest lecture was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Industrial IoT (IIoT) architecture, enabling technologies, and real-world applications, while highlighting its significant role in advancing smart industries and Industry 5.0.

  1. To introduce the fundamental concepts and architecture of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
  2. To familiarize participants with key enabling technologies, connected devices, sensors, communication systems, cloud platforms and data analytics.
  3. To provide an understanding of the integration of IoT with industrial automation and smart manufacturing.
  4. To highlight the role of Industrial IoT in the development of Industry 5.0 and sustainable industrial systems.
  5. To expose students to practical applications and emerging trends in Industrial IoT.
  6. To encourage innovation, research, and project development in the areas of IoT, automation, artificial intelligence, and smart technologies.

During the session Dr. Vyas explained the architecture of Industrial IoT and discussed the role of various layers involved in an IIoT ecosystem. The resource person elaborated on the importance of smart sensors, connected devices, communication protocols, data acquisition systems, cloud computing, and intelligent analytics in modern industrial environments.

The session provided valuable insights into the technological advancements associated with Industry 5.0, emphasizing how Industrial IoT enables industries to improve productivity, operational efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

The interactive session encouraged students to explore the possibilities of developing innovative projects and research solutions using IoT and related emerging technologies.
