The Department of Forensic Science was established in 2022. It is committed to delivering quality education through a balanced integration of scientific knowledge, practical training, research, and professional ethics. The B.Sc. Forensic Science programme offers an industry-oriented curriculum aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), providing students with a strong foundation in forensic sciences alongside hands-on training in modern forensic techniques. Supported by experienced faculty and well-equipped laboratories.
The department promotes experiential learning through laboratory practice, internships, field visits, research projects, and collaborations with forensic laboratories and law enforcement agencies. The curriculum fosters scientific reasoning, analytical thinking, innovation, multidisciplinary learning, and digital competency, enabling students to develop the technical and professional skills required for contemporary forensic practice.Â

The Department of Forensic Science is dedicated to nurturing competent, ethical, and skilled forensic professionals through quality education, scientific inquiry, and experiential learning. Our B.Sc. Forensic Science programme is designed to provide a strong foundation in forensic sciences while integrating practical training, research, and emerging technologies to meet the evolving demands of the criminal justice system.

Crime Scene Management Laboratory
The Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Lab is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide students with hands-on experience in handling and investigating real-life crime scenes. This lab incorporates a wide range of specialized forensic tools and kits, which are essential for comprehensive crime scene analysis. The CSI Lab is designed to simulate actual crime scenes, where students can apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations, working with real evidence collection techniques and procedures. The presence of a wide array of forensic kits ensures that students gain hands-on experience with essential forensic tools, preparing them for real-life careers in criminal investigations.
Forensic Biology & Serology Laboratory
The Forensic Biology and Serology Laboratory at Mandsaur University is a specialized facility designed to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge required to analyze biological evidence in criminal investigations. The laboratory is equipped with high-powered microscopes for examining biological samples such as hair, fibers, bloodstains, and plant material. Students use these microscopes to analyze and identify unique features of biological samples. This lab also encourages students to engage in research on new methodologies for DNA analysis, bloodstain pattern analysis, and the detection of emerging forensic markers.
Forensic Chemistry & Toxicology Laboratory
The Forensic Chemistry & Toxicology Laboratory is an essential part of the Department of Forensic Science, providing students with the specialized knowledge and skills required to analyze chemical substances and toxic materials in the context of criminal investigations. This lab is designed to help students understand the role of chemistry and toxicology in the forensic field, where substances like drugs, poisons, and chemicals play a crucial role in criminal cases. The Forensic Chemistry & Toxicology Lab at Mandsaur University also encourages students to engage in research projects. They may explore new methods of detecting emerging drugs or poisons, improving existing forensic techniques, or studying the effects of various substances in toxicology.
Advanced Instrumentation Laboratory
The Advanced Instrumentation Laboratory is designed to provide students with exposure to cutting-edge instruments and technologies used in forensic science. The laboratory focuses on equipping students with practical skills in using advanced tools for analyzing complex evidence, ranging from chemical substances and biological samples to physical traces and digital data. This laboratory is equipped with Genetic Analyzer, Automated Auto clave, Comparison Microscope, and Stereo Microscope.

Assistant Professor and Head in the DepartmentMs. Megha Yadav is an Assistant Professor and Head in the Department of Forensic Science with expertise in Forensic Biology and Serology, Wildlife Forensics, Molecular Forensics, Forensic Immunology, and Toxicology. She is a UGC-NET Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and a University Gold Medalist in M.Sc. Forensic Science. from Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (Central University), Bilaspur. She has qualified Forensic Aptitude and Caliber Test (FACT) PLUS in Chemical Sciences (2022), Forensic Document Examination (2024) and Biological Sciences (2026). She has submitted her Ph.D. thesis in Forensic Science and possesses extensive experience in teaching, research, and laboratory techniques related to forensic sciences. She is also actively involved in curriculum development, outcome-based education, NAAC accreditation activities, and implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). She has completed specialized training at prestigious institutions including the National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) Pune; Indian Institute of Science & Research (IISER)-Kolkata; and Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. Dr. Yadav is committed to promoting excellence in forensic science education through innovative teaching, interdisciplinary research, student mentoring, and community engagement. Her academic vision emphasizes integrating scientific research with practical forensic applications to develop competent forensic professionals capable of addressing contemporary challenges in criminal investigation, public health, and forensic innovation.

Mr. Madhujit Roy
Assistant ProfessorMr. Madhujit Roy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forensic Science, Mandsaur University. He holds an M.Sc. in Forensic Science (2023–2025) from Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (Central University), Bilaspur, and a B.Sc. in Forensic Science (2020–2023) from Parul University, Vadodara, with specialization in Forensic Biology and Serology. His academic and practical training includes internships at the Directorate of Forensic Science, Gandhinagar (Fingerprint and Ballistics Divisions, 2022) and the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College, Kolkata (2024). His research interests focus on biological evidence examination, DNA analysis, serological investigations, and forensic research methodologies. He qualified the UGC-NET (June 2025) for Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission and has also earned Forensic Aptitude and Caliber Test (FACT) PLUS certification in Crime Scene Management and FACTcertification in Forensic Physics & Ballistics (2026). With a strong academic foundation and practical forensic expertise, he has a keen interest in Forensic Toxicology, which continues to guide his future research and academic endeavors.
Ms. Rashmi Gupta
Assistant ProfessorMs. Rashmi Gupta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forensic Science with a strong academic foundation and professional experience spanning both academia and the IT industry. She holds a postgraduate degree in Forensic Science and has worked in the Network Operations Center (NOC), gaining practical exposure to cybersecurity operations, network monitoring, incident response. Her academic interests include Cyber Forensics, Questioned Documents, Forensic Psychology, and Crime Scene Investigation. She is committed to integrating practical insights with classroom teaching to enhance students' analytical and problem-solving abilities. Her research interests focus on digital investigations, forensic document examination, and emerging developments in forensic science, while actively contributing to student mentoring and academic initiatives.
