Brief description/ Remarks:

In view of Gandhi Jayanti, the Social Awareness & Environment Sustenance Club (NSS Unit) of Mandsaur University organized a ‘Clean India Healthy India campaign’ (स्वच्छ भारत स्वस्थ भारत अभियान) on October 3rd, 2024. This initiative honored Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and healthy India by engaging students in meaningful societal services and contributing to nation-building efforts.

The campaign’s theme, स्वच्छ भारत स्वस्थ भारत (Clean India, Healthy India), embodies Mandsaur University’s commitment to aligning its values with national objectives. Dr. Shekhar Jain, Director of NSS, initiated the event by inspiring students and discussing Mahatma Gandhi’s emphasis on cleanliness. Gandhi Ji believed that sanitation is more vital than independence itself, stressing its importance for personal health and a sustainable environment. Following his address, NSS volunteers actively cleaned various university areas, including buildings, pathways, and gardens. The event was well-organized, ensuring that each participant made a significant contribution. Following the cleanliness drive, Mr. Dayashankar Singh and Ms. Teena Yadav conducted a session to highlight the significance of personal and community hygiene for a healthy lifestyle. They focused on the connection between cleanliness and disease prevention, fostering a greater sense of well-being among the students.

The campaign had a visible impact on the Mandsaur University premises, creating a cleaner and more welcoming environment for both students and staff. Additionally, it deepened participants’ awareness of their role in contributing to a cleaner and healthier nation. By integrating the principles of personal hygiene with environmental consciousness, the initiative underscored that a cleaner environment leads to healthier lives, aligning with the university’s mission to nurture responsible citizens.

Towards the end of the program, Dr. Shekhar Jain appraised the NSS volunteer’s efforts and encouraged them for keeping such practice in daily life and spread message of cleanliness in the society.  The whole program was successfully coordinated by the faculty coordinator Ms. Teena Yadav (Secretary NSS), Mr. Daya Shankar Singh (Coordinator Campus 1), and student coordinator Mr. Paras Adaniya (B. Sc. Hons. Agriculture).
