Brief Description:

The “Road Safety Rally” was organized by the Mandsaur Institute of Physical Education, Mandsaur University, on 31st December 2024, at the Mandsaur University Campus – 01. 115 students of Physical Education Department participated in this program.

As part of the 6th Edition of Fit India Week celebrations, the rally aimed to raise awareness about road safety and promote healthy and safe living, aligning with the objectives of the Fit India Movement. The initiative was conducted in accordance with the guidelines provided in D.O. Letter No. 17-08001/6/2024-17 issued by the Government of India’s Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The program was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shamsher Singh, Principal, Department of Physical Education, Mandsaur University. The Organizing Secretary for the event was Dr. Rohit Sharma, Associate Professor, and the Program Coordinator was Mr. Kushagra Bairagi, Assistant Professor, Mandsaur Institute of Physical Education. 

  • Flagging off by the Vice-Chancellor: Vice-Chancellor Dr. V.S.S. Kumar, of Mandsaur University, flagged off the rally and delivered a motivational message on road safety. He cited real-life examples from Delhi to stress the consequences of traffic violations and the importance of adherence to road rules. His address inspired the participants to be more mindful and responsible citizens.
  • Rally Route: The rally was conducted across the Mandsaur University campus, involving students, faculty, and staff. Participants carried banners, placards, and slogans promoting road safety, encouraging safe driving, and the use of helmets and seat belts.
  • Community Engagement: The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation, with onlookers from the university community actively engaging and supporting the cause.
  • Fitness Activities: To align the rally with the Fit India Movement, warm-up sessions and fitness activities were conducted before the event to energize participants.

Event CoordinationThe rally was efficiently coordinated by Mr. Kushagra Bairagi, Assistant Professor who ensured its smooth execution and active involvement from all participants. His meticulous planning and management contributed significantly to the event’s success.

Objectives of the Rally

  1. To Promote Road Safety Awareness: Spreading the message about the importance of traffic rules and safe road practices among participants and spectators. 
  2. To Encourage Healthy Practices: Emphasizing the link between road safety and overall fitness for a healthier lifestyle.
  3. To Support the Fit India Movement: Encouraging a broader understanding of safety and fitness through active participation.

Conclusion

The road safety rally at Mandsaur University successfully combined the themes of safety and fitness, creating an impactful awareness drive as part of Fit India Week celebrations.

Dr. V.S.S. Kumar’s inspirational message and the use of real-life examples from Delhi left a lasting impression on the participants, further emphasizing the importance of road safety. The rally not only fostered a sense of responsibility but also underscored the critical connection between safety and a healthy lifestyle.

This initiative, in alignment with the efforts of the Government of India, has set a benchmark for future events aimed at community welfare, contributing to a safer and fitter India.
