Title: “National Energy Conservation Day Celebration at Mandsaur University”

Brief description / Remarks: 

On 14th December 2024, Urja Club, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in collaboration with IIC cell of Mandsaur University celebrated National Energy Conservation Day by organizing various initiatives to promote energy efficiency and sustainable practices. Through a combination of awareness campaigns, energy oath and symbolic actions, we aimed to inspire individuals and communities to adopt energy-saving habits. 

The inauguration of the event was done by Dr. Balkrishna Sharma (Head IIC Cell, MU), Dr. Virendra Jain (HOD, EEE Dept., MU) and other honorable faculties of the institute. The key activities of this celebration are as follows: – 

1. Awareness Rally: – An awareness rally on energy conservation is a student-centric event organized to raise awareness about energy conservation and sustainability. It involves a gathering of students who march, chant slogans, and carry banners to draw attention to their cause. The goal is to educate the public, influence policymakers, and inspire action.

2. Energy Oath: – At the heart of Mandsaur University, Dr. Virendra Jain (HOD, EEE Dept., MU) administered oaths to students as well as faculty members emphasizing saving energy and using renewable sources of energy. The slogan” Save Energy, Save the Earth” was chanted for environmental protection.

3. Switch Board Slogan Activity: – A team of students was made who went to every room of the university and put stickers based on the energy conservation theme onto the switchboard of every room. So the user gets motivated whenever he/she uses the switchboard and practices the goal of energy saving.

Outcomes: –

Increased Awareness

Enhanced knowledge: Participants gain a deeper understanding of energy consumption patterns, energy waste’s impact, and energy conservation’s benefits.

• Changed behaviours: Individuals and organizations adopt energy-saving habits, such as turning off lights when not in use, using energy-efficient appliances, and reducing water consumption.

Environmental Impact

• Reduced carbon footprint: Decreased energy consumption leads to lower greenhouse gas emissions and a reduced carbon footprint.

• Preserved natural resources: Conserving energy helps protect natural resources and reduce environmental degradation.• Sustainable future: Long-term commitment to energy conservation contributes to a more sustainable future for future generations
