A National Seminar on “Industry 4.0”
Department: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering
Year/semester: All students of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Students from outside
Activity: National Seminar
Title: A National Seminar on “Industry 4.0”
Date and Duration: 14th, September 2024, (1 day) Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
No. of participants: 148
Resource person and affiliation: Mr. Devendra Singh Nischal, Associate General Manager (Zone Head), Mr. Koshal Jain & Mr. Jitendra Chaprod, Associate Manager in Technical Service & Mr. Kamal Kumawat, Technical officer in Mandsaur Zone, Wonder Cement Limited.
Purpose of Seminar:The aim of the National Seminar on Industry 4.0 was to make students familiar with the revolution of next generation manufacturing as all industries are becoming technology industries and it makes sense that cement manufacturing would be no exception to this trend and to gain a comprehensive understanding of the complete cement manufacturing process with the application of IOT, Robotics and AI. To give the participants a more in-depth knowledge of a cement plant’s components and enhance their skills towards setting goals for their career because the career opportunities as a cement technocrat is excellent in India, as the growth of the Indian cement industry is in full swing to achieve its new targets. Every year many cement technocrats are required in India besides the demand in abroad plants.
Brief description about National Seminar:
Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering) and Wonder Cement Ltd jointly organized a one day National seminar on “Industry 4.0” dated 14th September 2024. The seminar was sponsored by Wonder Cement Ltd, on the occasion of the Engineers day on 15th September, the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Vishveshwaraya. Experts of the seminar rendered their expertise to all modules of cement manufacturing process with application of AI, IOT and Robotics techniques with effective use of subjective knowledge. They explored the critical elements of the various challenges faced by different cement plants. The Seminar covers the process, operation, and cement production of all the different departments in the cement industry, starting with the quarry and the crushing department and finishing with the packing area. It aims to equip the participants with knowledge in enhancing productivity through process diagnostic studies, process optimization, and troubleshooting for the complete cement plant. Industry 4.0 technologies are revolutionizing manufacturing by automating processes, connecting devices through IoT for real-time monitoring, and harnessing big data for analytics-driven decision-making. Additive manufacturing enables agile and customized production, while digital twins optimize processes virtually. Cybersecurity measures safeguard against threats, and human-machine collaboration enhances productivity. Together, these advancements streamline operations, improve efficiency, and foster innovation, reshaping manufacturing into smart, data-driven ecosystems.
About Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0)
In 2011 the German government used the term “Industrie 4.0” to describe a manufacturing digitization project. It quickly evolved to become a set of recommendations for implementing technology, jumpstarting digital transformation at scale. Industry 4.0 technologies revolutionize the automation, monitoring, and analysis of supply chains through smart technology.
Benefits of Industry 4.0
- Increased productivity and efficiency and higher quality and output.
Outcome / Key Deliverables: After completing this seminar students will be able to:
- Understand the Industry 4.0 challenges and implementation in the education sector in India.
- Enhanced their technical and practical knowledge about the Industry’s requirements.
- Understand the theoretical underpinnings of cement manufacturing technology.
- Develop new techniques for the optimisation of Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).
- Improve management and efficiency about the quality control in Industry.
- Familiar with the revolution of next generation manufacturing.
- Setting goals for their career opportunities as a cement technocrat in the Indian cement industry.
Thus this National seminar will go a long way in improving the learning outcomes of the burgeoning Engineering graduates of Mandsaur University and other participants.
