MIT+NEN=Engineering Entrepreneurs

33Our partnership with the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) stems from our faith in the enterprising spirit of our young students. Just as we mould future technocrats, we strive to create an ambience that orients them to seek out new vistas and ideas. NEN , a non- profit venture with repute as India’s largest and most dynamic community of new and high- growth entrepreneurs, works to drive entrepreneurship, job- creation and economic growth in the country. Founded in 2003, it offers incubation support by aiding startups and early stage entrepreneurs.

Highly relevant to MIT is NEN’s services that include:-

  • High- impact entrepreneurship education.
  • Mentorship programmers, expert consultations.
  • Fast track access to incubation and funding.
  • Learning materials and tools.

MIT’s association with the tech major IBM acts as an effective enabler in our efforts to nurture talent progressively and to offer industry – focused courses. That IBM shares MIT’s passion and enthusiasm for education has helped us benefit tremendously from this association. Our students get a glimpse of real life industry scenarios and experts from IBM offer continuing mentorship on academic projects, as well as hands- on training sessions in new technologies. Beyond this, MIT avails of free downloads of software and e- books from IBM, for our research projects.

Incidentally, MIT was ranked among the top ten engineering colleges in India by IBM-TGMC (2012), the largest student technology contest in India run by the tech major. IBM- TGMC is an innovative program aimed at encouraging students from engineering colleges from across India to develop solutions for real-time problems and scenarios using IBM & Open Source Software.

MIT-IIT Bombay Remote Centre

The MHRD – led project to deploy Aakash tablets to empower teachers in engineering and science streams was launched in October 2011. IIT- Mumbai, acting as a Central agency in running the project, selected MIT- Mandsaur as one of the remote centres. MIT is among the few engineering colleges across India to act as a centre; and the project gives our BE and ME students an opportunity to contribute to Research and Development activities in the Mandsaur vicinity.
